Introduction
The Student Ratings application in Route Y allows students to rate their courses
and instructors. This feedback is taken very seriously, and is used along with other criteria when
making decisions about faculty development, faculty advancement, faculty pay raises, and course development.
Rating a Course
The Student Ratings page displays a current list of the courses you are taking and the instructors
that teach them. When you click on the "Rate" button next to a course,
a page will be displayed on
which you can rate the course and instructor by answering a few short questions.
You will also be able to leave comments for the instructor which he or she will
receive anonymously. Once a course and instructor has been rated,
you will not be able to submit ratings for that course or instructor again.
When you have selected a course and instructor to rate and clicked the button, a page will be displayed on which you will find
questions to answer concerning the course and instructor. Ratings are given for each question
by clicking on the point on the scale that corresponds with your opinion.
Additionally, you can type any comments that you would like the instructor and other faculty members
to receive anonymously.
Your comment can be up to 4,000 characters long. Please keep in mind that an instructor is much more
likely to read and value them if you keep your comments constructive, consistent, and to the point.
You can only submit ratings for a course and instructor once. When
you have answered all of the questions and made any comments you wish to make,
click on the appropriate button at the bottom of the page, labeled "Submit Survey". Once you submit ratings
for a course, the "Rate" button will disappear for that course and be replaced with the
notice "Ratings Received". At that point your ratings have been officially recorded and
are permanent.
If at any time you decide you don't want to rate this course and instructor, you can navigate
back or out of the page. DO NOT CLICK THE "SUBMIT" BUTTON.
